Hellings Street ParkLumpy landscape with blue wall

A small city park that makes many outdoor rooms for a diverse group of users.

As a green space built on an urban infill site, this park is a vital respite to the high density locality of Wapping.

The play area encourages activity and risk taking. A rope bridge accesses a fort sitting on top of the hill and a climbing frame staggers over the striped mounds. The physical look of the landscape is derived from the concept of a flat plane which has been shoved towards the centre from both ends creating turbulence in the centre.

Beyond the blue wall the contemplative space has a grove of twisted stem pine trees growing from a grassy plane with benches set close to the wall. The wind through the tree branches enhances the quiet nature of the space.
